Donate

 Donations are the lifeblood of PHS, which is operated entirely by community volunteers. 

The PHS operating & program budget for 2024 is BZ$60,000 (US$30,000), with the entire budget funded by fundraising events, donations, sales of products (such as t-shirts, coffee mugs and pet care supplies), membership fees and a BZ$15 per person clinic fee charged at monthly clinics to help offset the clinic costs for electricity, phone, and water. 

Eighty-six percent of PHS’s budget is used for Direct Program Services – spays and neuters, subsidized veterinary care when the pet owner cannot afford to pay for treatment, veterinary care for rescue animals and emergency services for pets. 

The other 14% of PHS’s budget covers items such as insurance, office equipment, office and clinic supplies, bank and government fees, and utilities and maintenance for our clinic building. 

PHS also receives significant in-kind contributions: 

  •  Tropic Air donates flights to Belize City and Dangriga for rescue animals needing emergency vet care.   
  • Local hotels such as Sirenian Bay, Mariposa, Maya Beach Hotel, Azure del Mar & Pelican’s Perch donate overnight accommodations for our visiting veterinarians for clinics and feral cat trapping and neutering. 
  •  Turtle Inn  donates pizza for volunteers and vets once a month.  
  •  RE/MAX 1st Choice  donates printing and other office supplies.   
  • Wild Dog Food  kindly donates dog food for outreach and rescue programs. 
  • Reimers Feed Mill donates vaccines for our Outreach Clinics  
  • Placencia Pharmacy has a donation bin for PHS for anyone wishing to donate medical / pharmacy supplies 

Obviously, donations are needed to maintain services at their current level.  However, PHS would also like to expand its educational programs, particularly for children, and expand its outreach program to include surrounding villages and banana farm workers. Ideally PHS would like to acquire a mobile Vet Surgery Unit to better serve the outlying villages.   

 PHS would also like to increase the diagnostic capacity of the clinic through the purchase of a  portable X-Ray unit, a portable ultrasound machine and provide medical anaesthesia for operations. 

But, to do any of this, we must significantly increase our donations, and to do that, we need your help.
