The Placencia Humane Society is a volunteer-run, non-profit organization dedicated to the humane treatment of animals on the Placencia Peninsula in Belize.

Mission

Improve and enhance the quality of life for the animals on the Placencia Peninsula and surrounding areas by promoting and demonstrating responsible pet ownership, health care and education.

Vision

Celebrate and support the importance of the human/animal bond in which all pets have loving homes, health care and are treated with compassion and respect.

Our goal was simple – bring in a vet every few months to take care of vaccinations, mange, tick fever (ehrlichea), TVT (sexually transmitted venereal tumors) and spays and neuters. We provide veterinary care, rescue abused and abandoned animals, run community education programs, and work to reduce the suffering of both owned and stray animals through spay and neuter initiatives.
