Our Volunteers

PHS is proud to recognize the dedicated volunteers who give their time, energy, and compassion to the animals and communities of the Placencia Peninsula. We could not do what we do without them.

Rick and Candy

Rick & Candace Feldman

Rick and Candace are PHS’s go-to frontline volunteers for rescue, foster, and adoption coordination. When a mama dog is killed by a car and leaves behind helpless pups, PHS calls the Feldmans. When a starving dog is spotted on the beach, PHS calls the Feldmans.

Both were involved in animal welfare in Los Angeles before moving to Placencia in 2015 — bringing their dogs Peanut, Chongo, and later Jane along with them. Since October 2015, they have found loving permanent homes for countless dogs and cats, and have never hesitated to pay out of their own pocket for emergency vet care.

As Rick puts it: “As long as there is a need, we are here for them — all four-legged, furry friends who can’t do it for themselves.”

Trisha Nelson

Trisha lives in Canada and owns a condo at Los Porticos — but her heart is in Seine Bight. Four times a year she intentionally coordinates her stay on the Peninsula to work the Seine Bight Outreach Program, held the third Friday of every month.

Trisha doesn’t wait for clinic day — she visits Seine Bight pets and their owners between clinics, building the kind of ongoing community bond that makes PHS’s outreach truly effective. Her commitment is a perfect example of what PHS Seine Bight Outreach is all about: not just a once-a-month program, but a continuous presence in the community.
